Citizens Against Toll Roads (CART) cannot thank you enough for your participation in this historic campaign (watch video). We will be working day and night to collect 100,000 signatures between September 16 and November 18 in our effort to make good on a 57 year promise that our roads be "Free of Tolls".

-Did you know that nearly 60% of toll revenue goes to pay for non-toll roads?

-Did you know that toll workers make up to $97,588.92, plus healthcare and pension while school teachers in Massachusetts earn an average of under $57,000?

-Did you know the The Turnpike has assets in excess of $4.8 billion dollars

-Did you know the Turnpike brings in over $40 million dollars in revenue from the service plazas, leases, air rights and billboards?

-Did you know that the MTA spends more money on "fringe benefits" ($23 million) then they do on maintenance ($21 million)?

-Did you know the amount of toll revenue is less than 1/10 of 1% of the state budget?

-Did you know that in November of 2008 the MTA called for a 100% pike hike that would have raised their revenues by over $250 million dollars when they said they needed $100 million dollars?

By law, Massachusetts tolls were set to expire in 1994, but politicians kept the toll roads, and hiked the toll tax, so they could fund their personal pork projects.

Every month you pay an estimated $60 in tolls!  A family of four pays $150, and some businesses are paying $2,500! Many of us pay more than that!!!

Is this acceptable?  This is your money, and we both know that you know how to spend it better than corrupt Massachusetts politicians

Today our legislation was certified by the Attorney General and we will be sending you petitions and instruction sheets when they become available in the next few weeks.

In 2008, the three ballot questions spent almost $250,000 each on average and in 2006 some spent well over $400,000 just to collect signatures. We are a completely volunteer organization with no paid staffers.  With our David vs. Goliath strategy, our sling-shot will be the Internet and we estimate that $100,000 is necessary to be successful.

We are far short of what we need to win this fight and urgently need your financial support.  Please invest what you can afford, be it $5, $25, $50, $100, $500, $1,000 or as much as you want, there is no limit. Your support is vital in our efforts to keep our politicians accountable!

I have no doubt we can easily collect these signatures if we have the support of people who want to take back their government!

We cannot do this without you.

For over 57 years, our government in Massachusetts has promised to make our roads "free of tolls."

During this time, the tolls have become a breeding ground for fraud, waste and mismanagement.  The tolls are a symbol of everything that is wrong with Government.  This year, they tried to raise tolls by 100 percent, but we were able to stop them!  However, as long as there are tolls, there will be toll increases!

This begs the question: If we don't close the tolls now, then when will they close?

We absolutely need your help in order to insure a toll-free tomorrow.
Join the club, either collect 100 signatures or donate $58 and receive a free t-shirt.
